The Impeachment Of Donald Trump

Over the last week we have seen a lot of public testimony by long term servants of the United States, ambassadors, and Military personnel. During those days a lot was exposed. While it may seem boring to some, and a rehash of what they believed to be true, for many of us, it was important to hear.

Much of what the GOP had been claiming was quickly torn away. Holding public hearings meant the GOP could not push only their narrative, and it quickly ended the narrative that this was any form of witch hunt. It took care of their lies about loyalties and partisanship.

One of the things that became clear was how many people knew what the president and his staff had been doing, the role of Giuliani, and Sonland. Testimony showed that everyone was aware that Trump was withholding aid to coerce a meeting. As Dr.Hill said, she was on a diplomatic mission, and Sonland was on a personal political mission. That she approached white house lawyers to let them know what was going on back in July. That she has no partisan feelings.

Sonland explained that he was put over the EU and then Ukraine, that he was told to talk to Rudy, and that Trump having told them this they believed Giuliani was telling them what the president wanted.

Now the GOP is pushing the Biden narrative because its the only deflection tactic they have left in their deck. The Ukraine prosecutor was removed as a commitment to clean up the Ukraine, not because he was investigating corruption. Simply put, he refused to investigate and was removed because there was such a high level of corruption. The prosecutor who was put into place after was committed to cleaning up corruption, and looked into Barisma. They found that there was no corruption.

Trump obviously didn't care about the Barisma and Biden connection for 2 of his 3 years in office so far. It was not till after Joe Biden announced his run for presidency that Trump decided to try and find some dirt on him. For the two years prior Ukraine received its aid, on time and in the amount expected. There was no question as to if they would get it.

If you are counting, this is, once again, all roads lead to Putin as Nancy Pelosi has stated over and over. This hold up of aid was to benefit two people, Trump in his political goals, and Putin in his. The annexation of Crimea has been a contentious problem for years. While Trump was withholding aid for the Ukraine it gave Putin strong arm leverage which made it possible to solidify his hold on Crimea. It weakened the defenses of the Ukraine, and Ukrainian soldiers paid the price.

A talking point that defenders of Trump have is that there was no investigation, and the aid was released. The aid was released after a Politico article came out exposing that the aid was being withheld. Days later when Sonland made the call to Trump the words Quid Pro Quo were being thrown around by the Dem leadership. This is the only reason that Trump used that terminology. To make matters worse, and better for Trump the Ukraine has said it is launching an investigation into Barisma and Biden, now its worth noting that its been 7 years and even if there was something corrupt, which there is not, it would be outside the statue of limitations and not be punishable.

The problem here is that Trump has a trail of crimes leading to this moment. That he thinks thanks to Barr that he's above the law, and no one can touch him as long as hes in that office. Like a king, or authoritarian dictator. Since the GOP refused to even listen to the Mueller report, or take the time and read it. They refused to listen to the women who came forward, or his ties to Epstein, or the SDNY which lists him as conspirator 1.

If Trump isn't held accountable this time America will lose the very values it was built on. Democracy is fading, as Trump and his religious fanatics invade every office, and plan across the nation installing puppets who will do their anit LGBTQ agenda, their anti woman agenda, their anti minority agenda. This is the most important chance to old Trump to account for all of his criminal behavior, and ensure that he faces public justice.

There is no question about Trump being guilty after this week, there's only the question of how complicit the GOP is with allowing interference with elections. If Americans don't push for justice, this means that the future of our nation is filled with foreign nations trying to bribe the president for favors, and our aid going to the highest bidder, not the best of our friends and allies, who guard against cruelty and human rights violations. It means that Trump can violate any norm, including refusal to leave office, or even extending it, and making himself king.

Fascism
is only at the foot of Trump, and all he has to do is bend the will of the GOP a little further. That why impeachment is so vital. It sends a message that we will hold all leaders accountable, and that Bill Barr can't prevent his accountability for crimes.

Call your senators and congress people, tell them that you care about this nation, and don't stop calling and writing every day until they hear you. This is for America and this is patriotism.

Be Inspired: Hitchens Last Message.

It has not yet been a year since the passing of Christopher Hitchens. Every time I hear his words I am inspired. His contribution to humanity will sustain mankind for thousands of years to come. His whit and candor brought fear to his foes. His splendid knowledge was like a well versed and worn book. Every page was some sparkling overlooked detail of history. He shined a light on the hypocrisy of religion, and shouted it from every podium or arena he could find. In his final message, in Texas, to the freethinkers gathered there, he said "Be inspired."
